I'm glad you described the sky, grass, "sheep" (which i thought was some kind of alien figure - sorry - or Pokemon character) and your ideas for machine embellishments, which I think will help a lot!!! I'm sure the photo doesn't do justice to your work so far.
The ladybugs seem to be too "red" or bright and do detract from the sheep. Perhaps a lighter red, not necessarily pink, but a lighter rust (ladybug color) to keep it in the pastel range...maybe ask her to pick out that color too, as it seems she does like pastels... this is a baby quilt, right???
Of course, "when in doubt, leave it out"...so you could leave out the bugs and concentrate on the sheep (hope there's fluffy, curvy machining on or around his/her textured body) And the eyes need reworking as someone earlier mentioned.
