We chain pieced a log cabin 15 years ago. But the colors were all the same in each block. We sewed all the center squares onto a strip. Trimmed them and sewed all these pieces onto the next strip.
With this scrappy quilt you could sew two or three pieces onto a strip and then change strips. You would still always have one under the needle. After you have a lot of double pieces made, sew an assortment onto the next strip.
