Can you please call back the repair shop and tell them to check with you before repairing. This way it he doesn't do work without your OK. You will be able to talk to the repair man and understand what he thinks is best for your FW. When talking to him try no to be excited that it is a FW and that it's just another vintage machine. In other words, downplay it.
