You only need to remember a couple of simple things to be on the safe side: all carbohydrate converts to sugar when you eat it, fruit and milk sugars are better than glucose and artificial junk but must be taken in small quantities. Do not over indulge at any meal, try to eat low GI foods and exercise.
I keep a mental note of what I call 'every day' food and 'sometimes food' and it works for me. Good luck with your choices.
