Default Quilts completed in 2014

I wanted to upload pictures of some of the quilts I completed this year. I was able to rent time on a longarm quilting machine this year. This inspired me to complete some quilt tops that had been sitting for some time.

The first quilt, the pink/green diamonds was started over 10 years ago in a workshop with Liz Porter (from Love of Quilting). It sat for years with 2 paper pieced borders on it. I pulled it out this year to complete. I decided that it was more important to complete it than to finish the paper pieced borders. So I removed the 2 paper pieced borders. In the bag with the quilt top were pink and green fabric that was already cut into strips. I decided to use the pink as borders. I was a little short but I had some of the background fabric already cut into squares. So I included those to make up the length needed.

The Trip Around the World quilt was completed in 2012. I added the backing and quilted it.

The Log Cabin quilt was actually started and completed this year. My oldest daughter bought me a Sizzix Big Shot Pro for a combined birthday/Mothers Day present. The Accuquilt GO log cabin die was the first one that I bought. Here on the Quilting Board I had seen some 'flower' log cabin quilts. I decided to do something similar with bright multi flowered/geometric print fabrics for the dark side and all shades of pale fabrics for the light side.

I had a goal to give my 3 grown nieces and 2 grown nephews quilts for Christmas. I didn't quite make that goal. However, 2 of my nieces and 1 of my nephews were gifted these quilts for Christmas.
