I remember having to wear dresses to school - dress code stated that if you knelt on the floor, the dress had to touch the floor. (Combat those rising hemlines, you know :roll: )
My mom wore dresses every day. About the time I left for college, she started wearing slacks, because she was leading Girl Scouts for my sisters' troops. The clean house, the sit-down breakfast for all of us, dinner at 6:00 pm, right after dad walked in the door... Ah, well. Little of this rubbed off on me.
But reading the excerpt from the manual circa 1949 was great. Thanks! You started my day with much laughter
