How about just sewing them together (in any way you choose: leave both pieces solid. Cut into squares and do a checkerboard. Whatever.) And then sew a wide satin ruffle binding around it. A soft gold or white? My granddaughter had a blanket that she loved with a fat black satin ruffle. That is one treatment I would not do for a boy... Maybe that would make it girly enough. Then make her a beautiful soft pinky rose quilt! My personal fav. I think all baby girls need a blanket with tiny rosebuds!
