Thanks for all the suggestions. I may just do a fancy border on the front two corners as that is what shows when you come into the room. Piano keys sound like they might work.
I'll have to look at the string piecing website to see what that is.
The quilt also has a few purple turtles on it peeking out here and there. I guess I took the picture before I put them on. My husband and I did a house exchange to Hawaii and saw an amazing giant turtle while we were snorkeling. I wanted to make a quilt that would remind me of that holiday.
I had bought 40 2 1/2" strips of the purpley batik and I had the book on Hawaiin flower designs. In Hawaii I bought the turtle fabric. I always design my own quilts because I think that's the best part of quilting. I don't really like to piece and I thought this piecing would be easy. It wasn't for me. My quilts are always made with the motto 'It'll never be noticed on a galloping horse and that's the only kind I ride"
