I have a Singer. I just had this problem and was going to start pulling my hair out until I realized that at the top of the machine there is the thread guide. I wasn't pulling the thread far enough through it and it would get stuck and break. NOT ANY MORE!!!!! Now I have a smiley face and happy dance!!!!! Hope this is your problem and nothing serious. PS - I wish it would get warm outside.
