Lightbulb Scratching My Head about Thread?

Hello wise quilting ladies and gents. I have just finished the top for my nieces quilt (she'll be 3 on Jan 30th), and I'm planning on basting tonight and hopefully quilting it over the weekend. I'm wondering if y'all could advise me on thread colors to use for the quilting.

Here is the top:

I plan on quilting simple sleeping foxes on the snowball blocks and then quilting around the fox head shapes on the fox blocks, and pawprints in the sashing. My question is, what color thread should I use? I was thinking a light grey, but would that stand out too much on the darker snowballs, and not enough on the backing?
