Cathedral Windows is one of those quilts that takes ***forever** to make by hand. For me, it would be a keeper if it was made by hand, just because of all the time involved in creating it. Cathedral Windows made by machine are a little faster, although still can take a long time. I can't tell from your photos whether the stitching on the curved portions was done by hand or machine.

Cathedral Windows quilts tend to be quite heavy because of all the layers of fabric in them, so they rarely contain batting. This is why you may be thinking it is a summer quilt.
