Thanks Macy, ....Mary, I used saral paper to mark my background, instead of copying the design onto another piece of paper I gently traced the design onto the non chalked side of the saral paper and simply applied it to the black square then used a ball point pen to follow the tracing again. I was aware that this method avoids any problems regarding reversing the design. I made sure I marked the registration lines on the design and also marked the background where the fold where to centre it. Not sure if I explained this well...but please feel free to ask if not. Before I got some good chalk pencils I was concerned about the chalk from the saral not holding up and fading so i did a small running stitch on the marks so i had basically stitched the outlines of the design onto the background with an inexpensive thread.
