Oh my heart breaks. I hope you are able to repair the damage, although I know it will never be as it should have been when it was sold to you. I hope the seller offers an apology and compensates you. And I hope he learns a lesson from this and maybe even shares that lesson with others. It's heartbreaking when something like this happens. Some things cannot be easily replaced.
