I prefer stitch in the ditch, as I really like my quilt top to show, and not the stitching. I am in the minority among quilters, but it is the way I prefer to finish my quilts. With that in mind, I buy batting, usually Warm and Natural, which can be stitched as much as 10 inches apart. It works for me. There are no quilt police and we each do what we prefer and admire all of the different ways to enjoy our hobby.
