needle size depends on thread, but type I would recommend topstitching
I also agree with poly shredding less frequently. I also love isacord, and superiors poly brand. For cotton FMQ the only brand I found that didn't shred on me was king tut, however I still haven't tried presencia. I do love superior's line of threads very much
