I have a cheap curtting table from Joanns that I clip the backing tightly to with dollar store large black paper clips that are spring loaded. Then I lay the batting and front on top and pull not quite as tight and clip. If it is a big quilt that is too big for the table I do half at a time.
Then I pin about 3 to 4 inchs apart.
Until I figured this out I had many folds and ruined my quilt.
I cannot get down on the floor to do this so the table is a life saver.
I also have some clips from Quilt in a Day that hold the quilt to the table.
