Our family has always enjoyed campfire cooking too. Our long-handled open-fire popcorn popper got a real workout over the years, and was a hit at Scout Camp during those years too. One memorable time of fun camp cooking was at Scout Camp when I turned a bunch of non-believers into believers when I baked them biscuits in a cardboard box. I could have won some money with that feat.

My wife and I still regularly enjoy beer can chicken cooked in our wood-burning grill in the backyard, and we’ve done an occasional trashcan turkey cooked just off of the patio out there too. Our large pecan tree, along with neighbor pecan trees, provides us with plenty of shed limbs to have a constant supply of firewood. I cook over wood (in my grill) in the backyard often. We raise jalapenos and have a real appetite for poppers grilled over a wood fire.

Dang, now I’ve went and made myself hungry again.....
