And yes i,m thinking of making some thing to hold all my thread also. My wife has given up fighting to take my spare sewing room back . And is not saying any thing about all the thread laying on the floor so I guess I win haha.

Pressing board is a hard surface. Ironing board has padding that makes it soft, squishy. I read that a hard pressing surface is better when piecing and won't distort fabric. I made my own with cotton batting and canvas after watching video by Sharon Schaumburg (I hope I have her name right). It was very easy. I do like it a lot better for both starching and pressing seams. My board is mounted in a wall of my laundry room, so doubtful you can convert a traditional ironing board, but you can make a board to sit on top or on a table.
