Default 2nd UFO finished - Log cabin in batiks

I started this quilt in 2007. I bought the 2 1/2" pre-cut logs from E-bay. Without opening them and checking them, I loaded up my sewing machine, the logs and scissors, ripper and thread and went to my Mom's to help here out after knee surgery. When I opened the kit, I found there wasn't a single log cut exactly like it should be....not a one! I didn't have my rotary cutter or a cutting mat, so just decided to wing it. I eased in where one would be too long wherever I needed to. Since nothing was cut the same, I decided to not worry about ironing every time I sewed a seam and just finger pressed. Can you imagine my surprise when the blocks didn't even need to be trimmed up after that mish-mash of sewing? I just kept easing in those little fractions of an inch and put the top together. I was amazed at how the quilt turned out. I used a panto called Timeless Hearts with a contrasting thread to help fill out that negative black space. The back is black material so the quilting shows up beautifully.

Whoop Whoop!!!! This is the 2nd 2015 finish. More to come......

Well, it wouldn't let me add the pics on the original message. Wonder if it will on the "edit post"?
