I use my IPad Air for almost everything, but for reading books I prefer my Kindle Paperwhite. there is no glare, and I can read it in the sunlight or in the dark. It has a touchscreen so it's easy to turn the pages, and it's so small and lightweight I can carry it in my purse. I guess it depends on what all you want to do with it.
