By mini I mean it's only 15 blocks long (from top to bottom) and about 25 or so wide ...
Every time I go to quilt something to go above my dresser, it ends up too big !!!!
Honestly, I don't know why I was so initimidated ... here's what I do!
Google EASY bargello's and find one I like
Save the picture, make it big and print it
Count the number of colours (fabrics)
Go find them in my stash
Figure out the order of how to sew the strips together and sew them
(Make sure you sew the strips in OPPOSITE directions to avoid the "rainbow / curving" effect)
Once you have your strips ... I always join them - depending on how long / big your quilt is) ... for this one, I did two rows of all the colours, and then I joined them to make a tube.
I cut 1 inch, 1.5 inches and then 2 inches (I looked at the picture and winged it)
You take your first strip of "tube" and unstitch it from where you want the first block to be ... open it up, and voila ... there's your first two (you might have to take off one of two squares, depending on how short / long you want it to be)
Once you have them all lined up, sew them together (again in opposite directions)
Just keep repeating it ... the key thing to remember is that the 1 inch strips are what makes it "move" ... so the more you have, the more movement you will see in your bargello ...
And that's about it!
Takes some trial and error, that's why I went with the mini for this one - no pattern, just a picture!!!
What fun I had ... I'm going to see if I can tackle a bigger one soon!
