If you plan to quilt around each hex, it will give that bit of separation but still be blended. Its rich and sophisticated and i think more impressive and interesting to look at as a whole vs show-casing the individual blocks but either way its fabulous. Just be sure about what you do so that you won't be wishing you'd done it the other way once its too late!
