Like any other quilt, there are many ways to quilt a bargello.
You can follow the flow of the bargello in a few different ways. Below shows loops that follow the color.
For my Avatar I plan on making the light areas pop by doing dense pebbling in the darker areas.
Others choose to do an all-over design.
