It is a good one to try. Topstitch needles have a sharp point, and are a bit more sturdy than some others. They also have a larger eye & larger scarf that may minimize shredding. If you are embarking on FMQ on your domestic machine, you need to be open to try different things because every machine and sewer is a unique combo. So try different needles, feed dogs up or down, different threads, different feet etc.
