Excuse me for butting in. You could incorporate doilies into your quilts by tacking them down with tiny little stitches, but it would be a lot of work. You would need to tack them down well, because if the quilt is washed, the doilies will relax. If the quilt was a wall hanging that wouldn't be washed, of course you wouldn't have to be so finicky with the tacking down.
