Absolutely use the scrappy binding! I do this frequently and really like the final effect. (I save all of the extra "tails" from my binding and use them as scrappy bininding. Not to contradict hubby, but you could also use a dark color for your sashing. Dark green, perhaps. Use what is on hand!
