I was just thinking of this yesterday for a different application. My Viking will normally sew through just about anything without making any changes. I was sewing binding onto a baby quilt yesterday. Have never used a walking foot for this (or anything else - don't even own one) and never noticed any chugging or complaining in the past. Yesterday, though, it seemed to be lumbering a bit. Granted, the spool of thread I was using seemed to be having issues as well. But it was just a baby quilt. I just wasn't willing to work that hard at it. It finally occurred to me very late in the process that I should have lengthened my stitchs and the machine probably would have been happier! Oh well. One more project to finish up and then she goes in for her scheduled spa treatment.
