I had the same dilemma with the Studio winding ways. It was on sale but still pricey. I'm glad I got it. I've used it for 5 quilts and I have a couple more planned. I never would have attempted a block with curved piecing without a die. I tried it with a template and couldn't get the curves consistent. Just depends on how many DWRs you have planned so you could prorate the cost. How often do you spend $$ on a book/pattern and associated template or ruler? Also, if you belong to a quilting group, you could offer to cut for others at a nominal fee, offer to cut one as a raffle prize, or do it out of the kindness of your heart!
