What else???!!
It would be fun to be able to have a list of helpers.
I just copied all that everyone has posted in this thread and I'm saving as "Catchy Sewing Terms" on my computer, and will add to it whenever someone else has quick tip for us to remember to use to identify something when we are sewing quilting. Perhaps if every one does this and adds to their page, before long we can have a good list and post a thread just for them. Having a catchy phrase or reminder of a word is how I always studied for my spelling test or any test growing up and taught my two kids- both always made A's in spelling going through school - my son had a 100 yearly average grades 1-3. This worked for their vocabulary tests too. When I taught (I am a retired teacher and I taught 1st grade my last 18 years)-I used this with my first grade students and those who used it did well. I know this isn't school and we aren't being tested, but just giving examples.
