I purchased one of these desks, and yes, I did cut a hole in the center, took out the long drawer, build a support shelf for the machine so it sits even with the desk top. I disassembled the long middle drawer, glued the face back over the hole. I had a sew steady table, because the cut out wasn't perfect, I removed the legs on the sew steady and slid it around the machine.....I now have a huge sewing table for 50.00. No lift, but that's fine by me.The drawers are an added value. Another older taller desk that's narrower serves as my ironing board, I had wood cut big enough so that I can easily iron a yard of fabric........and yep, you guessed it. My cutting table is an older 5x6 dining table. All totaled, maybe around 110.00. I rather spend my money on fabric. So glad to see others are doing the same thing!
