most of the singers will fit in a cabinet built for a singer, I think there is a 10" center to center between the set screws.
Other machines (I'm talking vintage here) measure center to center on the machine you want to home in a cabinet and just check and measure the center to center on the empty cabinets when you are thrift-storing.
