I know what you mean. The first time I made anything out of really nice fabric when I made a flower girl dress for my granddaughter for her aunt's wedding. After I got the fabric, it took forever for me to make the first cut. I was terrified of ruining it! It was easier with the wedding dress, as my daughter had not had it cleaned and stored properly. It was just in a vacuum bag. It was stained and not enough space that was not stained to get a cutting. So--nothing ventured, nothing gained. I washed it and it came out beautiful, not a stain left. Even the lace came out clean. I was lucky!
