Art quilts are more successfully marketed as art, not quilts. If there is a gallery that you like, take your portfolio and a sample or two there to talk to them about having them show your work for a time. Approach libraries and other public places (social centers and the like), even museums, about hanging your work for a month or so. The idea is to get it seen by as many people as possible. Make it easy for them to contact you if they like it. Enter it into shows. Lyric Kinard's website has a list of 'call for entries' you can check. Join SAQA, join the art quilt list, join the Quilting Arts message board. You may well find that fiber art is much more accepted in the art world than in the quilt world, at least in some areas of the country, at this point in time, but it is getting better...really it is. Good luck to you. :D
