It's fairly easy to quilt your own pieces of fabric for projects. I just secure it to batting with Eler's washable glue stick and draw crosshatching lines or use blue painter's tape-you can reuse the same piece of tape as you quit out ward from the center.

I first lay the tape diagonally centered from corner to corner, quilt those two lines then move the tape the opposite way from corner to corner and keep flowing the lines and moving the tape until I'm done. You can draw lines with a ruler and marking pencil but with the tape you don't have to worry about what you mark it with and it diesn't take much more time to move tape around.
