I've done that, and more than once! I was teaching a niece who had never sewn, so we started with a simple potholder using that birthing method. And I put the thermal batting between the layers, had her sew it & turn it, well you can realize how much my teaching impressed her! LOL I said it was an example of what not to do so it would be more impressive-LOL
