Thank you ladies! My inspiration for both of these were Cosmatesque architecture. Just Google it, and you will see all kinds of mosaic tile floors and walls. I swear those men would have made terrific quilters with their designs.
The first quilt only had one layer of batting, while the second one had two. I think the two layers made a HUGE difference in the appearance. In addition, I used silk thread on the second quilt, and it is much finer than cotton thread.
This was a terrific learning experience for me.
Again, thanks for the compliments - I was really down on myself (especially with the first one) on these - you've all made me feel much better!
