I'd just go to Target and pick up one of their cheaper irons. I bought one years ago to take to classes (I used a steam generator at home). It worked great and I didn't have a lot invested in it if something happened to it. I still use it when I'm doing paper piecing with a pad next to my machine so I don't have to walk to the ironing board to press every seam.
