The gold on this machine will not be repainted. I can't imagine being steady enough to do a decent job.....and it just wouldn't look right. If all the gold on the base eventually falls off, well, I guess that's the way it is! There is more gold adhering to the back of the base, and hopefully it will last. I will gently oil it, see how that goes. Probably wax or 'show car glaze' would be too rough on the surface to apply and rub off.
Hopefully cleaning and such will be done sometime next week, so I can see how it sews!
