I sew over pins all the time with my old Bernina 930. I try to take them out as I go, but don't worry about it. I have broken a few needles, but very few and my Bernina always works like a charm. I take it in for it's year+ tune ups, and nothing is ever wrong with it, just normal oiling and cleaning. It is over 25 years old.
