If they do not have a queen, it would still look good on a double bed. Most people now a days opt for a queen size. But like I said, I would go with a little more than 90 for width. I agree with you that the wide border is the way to go and I love the link to thousands of bolts. I just spent a fortune there buying fabric for my DIL's quilt! Much cheaper than the fabric stores here in town.
I drew up something quick on graph paper with the wide borders and it frames the design really nicely. The uneven border almost frames it like a piece of artwork...I was taught that when you mat a picture you're supposed to have a little more on the bottom than on the sides and top. The quilt borders kind of have a same effect. And with the border I can get a decent quilt size that I can't get with the design alone...I get really low numbers with the width and real high numbers with the length...the borders even out these extreme numbers a little.

From the sounds of it they have a double bed. But I'm assuming they'll move up to a queen...seems like when two people get used to one bed they end up wanting to move something bigger (I sure would of liked a double bed the other night sharing a single with Nick. lol.)

I could make my blocks 10" with a 12" border on the sides and a 6" border on the top and bottom, making it 94"x114. Think that would be better suited for a Queen if she decides to get one?
