She MOVES!!!

This machine was frozen solid for all of the pretty shine on the top. The good news is that it was frozen due to being BONE dry not because of being rusty. I Tri-Flo'd it Saturday evening and then sat on my hands overnight to let it soak in. Sunday I re-lubed it and gave it the barest of force and it scooched (my mom's word)just a little, so I let it sit and then repeated it about two hours later and after that it just started to turn freely.

The foot pedal was wobbly so I did not want to try to treadle it until i removed the pinion pivots and polished them.

These are the little cone ended screws like the singer treadles use to secure the foot pedal except that the G&B ones are about 2/3 the diameter and are almost sharp pointed. WAY finer manufacturing than Singer or even W&W.... I should have taken a comparison shot.... Maybe tonight.

I had to remove the old belt. it is a leather "V" belt!!! Very brittle. (being saved of course)

Once I cleaned and adjusted the foot pivots it moved really really smooth. I put on a new belt, adjusted the belt tension. You can do that by loosening the big nut thing under the drive wheel and sliding the whole assembly top the right along the cross arm until you have the correct tension (Brilliant!)

She treadles smoothly and almost quietly.

Cathy will be coming over tonight, and I am saving the first stitching attempts until she arrives.
