Didn't read everyone's replies, but my opinion is the handspun plaid or checked sashing to see if you get a retro look. If you have checked or plaid scraps, try that for just one or two blocks to see what happens. Whatever you do, it's going to be great. Make sure you post pics of the finished product in the Pictures section so we can all see it. Sometimes that's all I have time to check, besides my PDA's for a few days.
