Interesting about paying attention when the machine sounds different. For this project I am using the clear nylon thread in both top and bottom to stitch around the big red pansies in each block. What a pain! but the effect is great - it makes the flowers pop. I've noticed, however, that sometimes the bobbin thread doesn't "catch" the top thread to make the stitch, but picks up again in a stitch or two. I can hear when this happens so I go back a couple of stitches to lock it in and then continue. Weird. I've also broken five needles in two days when stitching too fast. I have to go super slow and it's tedious. Glad there are only twelve blocks of flowers.
