IMHO ~ the zippers we installed (in the old days) was to have the fabric cover the zipper. So we wanted that nice 'straight' seam ... not... those were a challenge. Now the zipper is exposed... no problem of that 'wobbly' seam. You can conquer the zipper phobia. Ask me how I know
