I bet it's a trimming issue on the hsts. I'm looking at the intersections on the free edges of your block and it looks like your points go right to the edge. I bet if you pull the seams and re-trim, it will come out correct. Usually the points on the free edges will have a 1/4" gap between point and edge. If that doesn't make sense, go back a few posts (#335 I think) to the pictures of blocks with hsts (the blue & white one someone sewed for me). Hopefully that makes sense?

I've been trying to pack our house for our move that is now coming up rather rapidly for my taste as well as coordinate how to get a cat, new puppy, moving truck, 2 cars, and 2 very tired adults from Chicago to Maine all at the same time...and hopefully have beds to sleep in when we get there. Anyway I tried TravelingGrandma's block today with my fabric. Boy did I do a bad job. It came out 13 inches...points are wonky, seams are all puckered. What the heck?! I was having so much trouble with my 1/4 inch guide foot that I gave it up and went back to a regular foot. Maybe my seams were too scant? And perhaps I should have spent more energy trimming my HSTs? I feel like this isn't a hard block and I botched it...oh dear.
