I bet it's a trimming issue on the hsts. I'm looking at the intersections on the free edges of your block and it looks like your points go right to the edge. I bet if you pull the seams and re-trim, it will come out correct. Usually the points on the free edges will have a 1/4" gap between point and edge. If that doesn't make sense, go back a few posts (#335 I think) to the pictures of blocks with hsts (the blue & white one someone sewed for me). Hopefully that makes sense?

I think I found out what happens when you try to quilt when you are frustrated about other things. I was having so much trouble with my 1/4 inch guide foot that I gave it up and went back to a regular foot. Maybe my seams were too scant? And perhaps I should have spent more energy trimming my HSTs? I feel like this isn't a hard block and I botched it...oh dear.
