The use of 1 1/2 inch strips certainly opens up more design opportunities. You can make the design smaller by using the smaller strips. You can sew them together to make strips that will finish at 2 1/2 inch strips. If you use the smaller strips as the light areas of a Log Cabin you will get a moving appearance of the blocks.
