The cords aren't too hard to replace.
A small tip. You can buy power cords at the thrift store for far less than buying raw wire and plug ends at the hardware store. You also get a nice molded plug on the end. 2 conductor zip cord is pretty much 2 conductor zip cord. The stuff has been around since at least the 1940s. For average machines this works and looks fine. If the machine were older and special I would go ahead and spring for cloth covered wire and vintage style ends if that's what it had originally.
