My only other suggestion would be to get a "release from blame" signed letter from your dear son.
When wrapped in my over sized lap quilt - if i want to go to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, i often just stand up and keep it wrapped around me. If i had this foot pocket in my quilt, i KNOW i would forget, stand up and try to walk.....and the result would NOT be pretty !!!
