I bought a baby-lock serger and it has sat in the box for 20 years. I didn't like the thickness of the seams when I tried quilting on it. I always have wanted a Singer featherweight but never could find one at a garage sale or at a resale store. Living in the city does have it's disadvantages.
I am quilting on my Bernina 1530. It is getting up there in years but it is NOT an antique yet?? Running as smooth as the day I bought it new out of the box.
