First of all: With your background color, cut accurate 2-1/2” wide strips that are width of fabric, hereafter called WOF. See list below for what you will need for the different projects. Subcut into 2-1/2” blocks, as many as for the project you will be making. Set any leftovers pieces and keep with the larger piece still to cut. You should be able to get 16 of the 2-1/2” squares per WOF strip, or maybe only 15 if your fabric has wide selvedge. Mark a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the 2-1/2” squares.
For table runner cut 32 2-1/2” squares from 2 WOF strips
For wall hanging cut 72 2-1/2” squares from 5 WOF strips
For large lap cut 192 2-1/2”squares from 13 WOF strips

Next: Let me qualify something I told you last week – I had said to cut 20” pieces of your Color C, and I had you cut a bigger piece than needed to make sure you will be able to square up your edges. I should have told you that you will need EXACTLY 18” but if your ends are not straight, you won’t have enough to make the cuts to this strip. The extra was to allow for the squaring up of your cuts that will be made later. 18-1/2” should be enough. Hopefully I have not confused you. If so, so sorry, but let’s move on.

From some of your remaining background fabric, cut 2-1/2” strips WOF -- Cut as many 18-1/2” to 20” pieces of background color as you have cut 20” pieces from your color C. (For example, if you are making a table runner, you cut four different pieces of color C, so will need four pieces of background fabric.) Sew a strip of color C to a strip of background color. Use accurate ¼” seams, scant if you have trouble making ¼” seams Press toward the color. This strip must be 4-1/2” wide. Set aside all the left over background fabric. If you are not working with at least 18-1/2” strips of fabric, please PM me for help. I don’t want to post too much here, and give away one of the mysterious parts of this mystery!
